Steps to take when a transaction hasn't arrived

Updated this week

If you have sent tokens from your Rabby Wallet but they are not showing up in the recipient's wallet, follow these troubleshooting steps:

1) Check that the transaction was successful.

Go to the block explorer for the network you used (e.g., Etherscan for Ethereum) to check the status of your transaction. You can find the link directly in your transaction history in Rabby.

Success: If it was successful, you'll see a status indicator such as 'Success' or 'Confirmed'.

Failed: If the transaction was unsuccessful, the tokens will not appear in the recipient's wallet. You will need to try sending them again.

If the transaction is successful, proceed to the next step.

2. Verify the recipient's address

Double-check the transaction on the block explorer to confirm that you used the intended address.

  • Look at the "To" or "Recipient" field.

  • Compare it character-by-character with the address the recipient provided.

If you transferred funds to the wrong address by mistake, the tokens are usually not retrievable because blockchain transactions are permanent.

3. Confirm the recipient's wallet display settings

While Rabby detects and displays many tokens automatically, some wallets require users to add tokens manually before they appear in the balance.

  • This is common for new or uncommon tokens.

  • Ask the recipient to "Import" or "Add" the specific token using its Contract Address. Even if it doesn't "show up" in their interface yet, the funds are safely held at their address on the blockchain.

  • Pro Tip: If the recipient is using a self-custodial wallet, they can simply import their seed phrase or private key into Rabby. Rabby's automatic token detection will immediately show the balance without any manual configuration.

Deposits into an exchange account

If your transfer was made to an exchange (like Binance, Coinbase, or OKX) and you've confirmed the transaction was successful on the block explorer, the tokens have physically reached the exchange's wallet.

  • Contact the Exchange Support: If the deposit isn't showing in your account dashboard, you must contact the exchange's support team. Provide them with your Transaction Hash (TXID) and the block explorer link as proof.

  • Network and Token Compatibility. This happens if you sent tokens on a different network than the one the exchange provided (e.g., sending via Arbitrum instead of Ethereum) or if you sent a token the exchange does not support. While these funds won't show up automatically, most exchanges can recover them manually, though they may charge a recovery fee for the service.

Since Rabby is a self-custodial wallet, we do not have access to your funds or the exchange's internal systems. Once a transaction is confirmed on the blockchain, it is irreversible. We cannot "pull it back" or force the exchange to credit your account. If the block explorer shows "Success", the funds are already in their possession. Only the exchange team—who holds the private keys to that deposit address—can access those funds and credit your account.
