How to use Rabby Bridge

Updated this week

Rabby Bridge allows you to move your assets between different blockchains (e.g., from Ethereum to Arbitrum).

Bridge vs. Swap: What's the difference?

  • Swap: Exchanging one token for another on the same network (e.g., swapping ETH for USDT on Ethereum).

  • Bridge: Moving an asset from one network to another (e.g., moving USDT from Ethereum to Polygon).

Rabby Extension

1) Open Bridge: Click the Bridge button on the Rabby homepage.

2) Select Source: Choose the "From" network and the token you wish to bridge.

3) Select Destination: Choose the "To" network and the token you want to receive.

  • Note: Tokens labeled "High Liquidity" generally offer better rates and faster processing times.

4) Review and Confirm: Rabby automatically fetches the best rates from multiple bridge aggregators. Review the "Receive" amount and the estimated time for the bridge to complete. If satisfied, click to confirm and sign the transaction.

5) Wait for Completion: Bridging is a multi-step process. While your initial transaction on the source chain may confirm quickly, the bridge protocol needs time to finalize the cross-chain transfer before the funds appear in your wallet on the new network.

Rabby Mobile

1) Open Bridge: Tap the Bridge feature on the main screen.

2) Select Wallet: Your top address is the default. If you want to use a different wallet, tap the address at the top to switch.

3) Select Source: Choose the "From" network and the token you wish to bridge. Enter the specific amount or use the slider to quickly select a percentage (e.g., 25%, 50%, Max) of your holdings.

4) Select Destination: Choose the "To" network and the token you want to receive.

  • Note: Tokens labeled "High Liquidity" generally offer better rates and faster processing times.

5) Review and Confirm: Rabby automatically fetches the best rates from multiple bridge aggregators. Review the "Receive" amount and the estimated time for the bridge to complete. If satisfied, click to confirm and sign the transaction.

6) Wait for Completion: Bridging is a multi-step process. While your initial transaction on the source chain may confirm quickly, the bridge protocol needs time to finalize the cross-chain transfer before the funds appear in your wallet on the new network.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

Why is my bridge taking longer than expected?

Bridging is a multi-step process that involves coordination between two separate blockchains. Even after your transaction is confirmed on the source chain, the bridge must wait for the transaction to become irreversible and then deliver the funds to the destination. Delays typically occur if a network is congested or if the protocol's delivery system is processing a high volume of transfers.

Why did I receive a different token than I chose?

This is usually due to automatic liquidity fallbacks. If the destination network is low on the specific token you chose (e.g., USDT), the bridge aggregator may route your funds into a highly liquid equivalent (like USDC or the native gas token) of the same value. This prevents your funds from getting "stuck" in a pending state for hours or days while waiting for a specific pool to be refilled.

No Quote Found Error

This occurs when our aggregators cannot find a viable trading route or enough liquidity between the two tokens you have selected. You may need to use a third-party dApp to find a usable rate.

No Quotes Available for this Chain Yet

If a specific chain is not yet supported by the Rabby aggregator, please use a trusted third-party DApp to proceed.

What is "Approve and Bridge"?

  • The Approval Step: Approving a token allows a smart contract to access and use that token on your behalf. This step is required when you're swapping, bridging, or interacting with dApps (e.g., lending, staking). Think of it as unlocking the token so a third-party contract can use it.

  • You can approve and bridge in a single confirmation. Rabby ensures smooth and fast experience.

  • While many DApps request "Infinite Approval," Rabby only approves the required amount for your specific swap. This keeps your wallet secure and eliminates the need to manually revoke permissions afterward.

Rabby Fee

To support the continuous development of the wallet, a service fee of 0.25% is applied to bridges. This fee is already included in the quote shown to you.
